There were around 130 staff at the newspaper peak. Keith Perch said he saw the newspaper in 10 years as
if it is still print it will be weekly, extremely expensive, and have a very small circulation: if it is online only- it wont make much money which means employing less people.

He regards the incident as abhorrent and not in the standards that newspapers should have. However he also says this isn't a cause for regulation but the hacking is illegal activity that the police should handle.

4) What is Perch's view of newspaper ownership?
He believes anyone as long as they have the money can own newspapers . He also doesn't care who does it as he references Rupert Murdoch owner of the Sun and believes he has the right to own newspapers as well as anybody.

5) Do you agree with his view that broadcast news should have less regulation so that TV channels can support particular political parties or people?
I somewhat agree with him. He is correct when he says there are too many balanced broadcasters that take opinions from the left and the right but he believes if anyone wants to tune into a left broadcast or a right, that should be allowed and regulation can be eased. However, it will allow too many bias stories that either slander one hand side of the political spectrum or exaggerate the actions and support of right politicians.

Task Two: Newspaper regulation exam question

I am for statutory regulation of the newspaper industry. I believe that some newspapers have been allowed to foster their discriminatory agenda against certain ethnicities and cultures. Such as the The Sun with their "1 in 5 Brits have sympathy for jihadis" terribly misleading data that had influenced the average Brit to be more Islamophobic and have a certain hateful agenda against the middle easterns. That is why I'm for statutory regulation as the industry can regulate itself and make sure incidents like this don't happen.
As for why I'm against statutory regulation, is that we have to question the usefulness and effectiveness of statutory regulation. There are many Incidents where IPSO (Independent press standard organisation) issue warnings against the rule breaking story. Some question the way IPSO punishes them and if it is too
