Advertising: David Gauntlett and masculinity

Q1: The traditional view of a housewife has been "kickboxed out of the picture" by the "girl power" icon.

Q2: If it appeals to us no matter who we are we as individuals have a certain view of idea that they like being represented and they will be influenced by that.

Q3: Gauntlett likes that the media is transforming and changing their traditional views rather than reinforcing them. So he likes this change.

Q4: Masculinity isn't in crisis Gaunlett says that instead masculinity is changing and transforming which is what happens from generation to generation.

Q5: No it has changed to that of taking accountability of your actions. However many have changed due to this new epidemic followed by Andrew Tate and his idea that masculinity is in crisis and is being taken away from men.

Q6: Many ads are now used to reinforce and push this idea of "girl power" which is evident in many forms of media so no not really and if they do they are heavily criticized.

Q7: Yes the GILETTTE ad shows this and how men can criticize and ask other men for accountability of their actions the boys who see this are then influenced by their actions and will push that behaviour forward so yea I do believe that.

Q8:

Here's a good example of the changing of gender roles and traditional beliefs which further pushes Gaunlett's theory which says that ideas and people change.

Q9: Gauntlett suggests that media texts tend to "put out a whole spectrum of messages which cannot be reconciled." This suggests the idea that adverts present several different messages that contradict each other. Brands can reinforce traditional gender stereotypes but also challenge them by presenting females as strong independent women.

Q10:The Score hair cream advert reinforces traditional views of gender and sexuality whereas the Maybelline advert offers a contemporary and new approach to gender and sexuality. The 50-year gap between the two adverts illustrates how much things can change over time.

ANDREW TATE EXTENSION

Q1: A dislike or prejudice against women. Andrew Tate is a famous podcaster/Rich guru who often talks about the prejudice and power he states he has over women due to his fame and riches and influences many children who are on these apps like Andrew Tates words.

Q2: Andrew Tate actually pays people to go on these apps and post his messages on these social networks and they blow up often leading to millions of likes and views which pushes his fame further which is why he suddenly showed up.

Q3: Many believe that masculinity is in crisis i believe some people act like some things can't be changed some can't. I like some of those old factors of masculinity like being strong and resilient however without the belittlement of women then that fine being strong for me is what keeps me going and to push forward you need to be strong.

No matter who you are, where you come from, and what you did you can always change and become the best version of yourself that's what we call evolution and it keeps us all going no matter what.
